There was an X9.6 solar flare today from a sun spot that also had an M class flare a couple of days ago. That M class flare shot a CME at us and we should feel its effects today.
The flare today, which was one of the strongest ever recorded on the sun has definitely produced a CME. The first images we are getting of this flare headed our way is from the STEREO Ahead satellite.
