If you know some spots, where birds are fed or where there is some food that birds find in winter then it is easier to get some closeup pictures of birds. Last winter Stefan and I visited Barbara in Germany at Lake Chiemsee for some bird photography and we were pretty successfull. Not with a lot of different birds but I was able to see Whooper swans, some tits, the robin, the nuthatch and several ducks. All these birds except the whooper swans can also be found here in Linz. But I have to admit that we were able to get pretty close to the bires there.
