I just watched Final Destination 5 again on Netflix. I have liked this series since the first one in 2000. Why do I like Final Destination? I don't know why? Maybe it is because of the premise that the protagonist happens to see the future first, which is not possible in our world. Something impossible in this world is enough to elevate our sense of expectancy.

Final Destination 5, brutal description of death

Since Final Destination in 2000, the series has been infamous for its cruel and realistic description of death. Blood is all over the screen, body parts are taken apart, and sharp steels cut the body away. There were not many movies which illustrate the death with this level of brutality at that time. So, it was very shocking to watch the movie Final Destination in 2000.

Somehow people liked to watch this kind of movie. Maybe not too many people. But I happened to like it, too. Why do I like to watch the cruelty on the screen, which is in fact not real at all? I don't know why some people including me enjoy watching others dying on the screen. Maybe this kind of movie becomes the outlet for our primitive and barbarous instinct which has been in ourselves since the beginning of the human race.

So is it the best of the series?

Not at all! I would say it is the worst of all five movies. I personally think the first one is the best. I also like the fourth one released in 2009. Do you remember the one in which people die in a motor racecourse? The Final Destination by David R. Ellis was as good as the first one.

In fact, we all gonna die.

Death is fate and the destination for all of us. But we want to die in peace, not by the trick of Grim Reaper. The five movies in this franchise seem to ask us whether our fate is pre-destined or we can make our own fate. The movies seem to tell us that we cannot get out of the pre-destined schedule of death. What do you think?
