Cross-section of a trunk of a tree

Many times there is something unnoticed by our sensory recognitions. I carefully consider the taste sense the most sensitive of all physical senses. However, to be recognized, food must be inside of the mouth. In that sense, our taste sense is awfully limited.

What about our sense of sight? It is certain that all the visual pieces of information given to our vision are not equally processed by our visual organs. Since our visual organs automatically filter all the irrelevant pieces of information except those that our mind and consciousness focus on.

However, if we take the time to investigate something that was once irrelevant, the meaning of the irrelevant keenly strikes our perception and knowledge around us. I found this trunk of a tree to be an example of the elevation of the meaning of the irrelevant.

The tree seemed to had been handled by human hands. The cross-section is perfectly and smoothly flat, which is not possible by only the power of nature. And the color of the cross-section was green, which must have been painted by human hands. However, when you closely look at the trunk, there exists a great work of nature, too.

The trunk is surrounded by something fur-like substances. Those might be the hair of the flower seeds. The seeds might have flown from a distant place and finally landed on the trunk.

Both human hands and the work of nature contributed to this beautiful represented outcome. I might not have been able to think of this idea if I had not run into this trunk with my camera. These photos were taken about a year ago, but I still remember the atmosphere of the day.

In fact, the atmosphere was terribly awful.
