We always have avocados in our kitchen. When ripe, they are delicious mashed up and spread on toast with a little seasoning for a quick, nutritious snack. We add them to our salads, green smoothies, wraps and they are the main ingredient in tasty guacamole π.
Avocado is a super healthy fruit also known as an βalligator pearβ. It is high in healthy fats and packed with nutrients including vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, E, K, folate, magnesium, manganese, iron, potassium, copper, phosphorus, zinc and fibre.
The fruit is reputed to support healthy blood pressure and weight loss, reduce cholesterol levels and the risk of heart disease, reduce the symptoms of osteoarthritis and protect eye health.
Avocados quickly turn brown once cut. To slow down the process, add a little lemon juice π.
