Yesterday morning was definitely cooler as I could really feel it on my face as we soaked. The day ended up being mild in the low 40s F and dry all day in the lead up to the snow that is now falling.
With 8F lows this whole next week I needed to top of the water so I am not fighting the hose. I ended up letting it overflow for a while after forgetting it was on but by evening it was fully heated.
I had sports ball games on during the day while I worked on breaking plants down. During the last wind storm the crown guards on the garden shed had blown off as I did not have the twin over them. I got the ladder and climbed up and slid the guards under the twine holding the tires which hold the plastic down. This will better protect the roof this winter. The guards were mainly for before the plastic was in place as the roof has a big opening along the peak.
It took all day but I got the plants all broken down and the branches all thrown to the sheep who pounced on them.
It took till evening for the cycle to be finished but in under 30 hours we got 5 full trays of perfectly dried chard that all in all weighs about 11 ounces. I put it all in a big bag together and will work on bagging it in mylar today. I need to come up with a good size amount to try and make it into some meal size and then some larger storage sized.
Stupid time change has it dark so early now it really sucks. I was nodding out as per my norm so crashed out quickly.
Woke up to it snowing this morning with 1.5" on the ground so far, every day of November has had precip. The next batch of chard will go in the freeze dryer soon, it is R's birthday today and he is now 6 years old, I will be pushing snow around since it won't be melting anytime soon, I have to get my heater into the cooler to keep it above freezing until we can get the rest of the greens processed, I have my Spanish and Python lessons, story to work on, and mando practice.
