Yesterday morning before we left North Dakota 
She made a few laps of the area and looked like she belonged on the trike. Her smile was huge and she had a blast. Next time we are back, if the weather is good, she will likely take it out for a bit more of a ride. The rains most of the week and the intense winds were just not conducive to it, plus he wasn't feeling good on Thursday/Friday.
We got all packed and on the road by about 10:15am and as we were driving down the 58 towards Fairview which sits right on the Montana North Dakota border we came upon a few cop cars that were rolling slowly. It wasn't until we got to them that we saw it was the special olympics torch run. There were 3 LEOs with a pair of riders in the middle.
We stopped on the gravel road that is the bypass for Fairview. To go into the little town means 25 mph and a bunch of drainage whoops with a VERY eagle eyed cop. We had been pulled over there before in the middle of the night and let off without a ticket. Since then I go around the town. The boys had to pee so we stopped here in the still ultra flat edge of North Dakota. These 2 pics were taken about 200 yards from the state line.
Just west of Big Timber along the I90 we always see the Crazy Mountain range. This is a lot of what I think of when I think Montana. Plains abutting the mountains. There is pretty much just massive ranches everywhere in this part of the state and then roads that lead south to Yellowstone.
After 9 hours on the road we made it to Butte and our hotel. The hot tub felt ultra nice and helped to relax my sore back muscles. I have found that the driving in the plains parts of the country can be really rough on my body. Sitting behind the wheel on the long straight roads means that I end up in stasis positions where my upper body moves very little. This lack of movement makes my shoulders and upper back tight. It's not like the more dynamic movements of mountain roads where the upper body and arms are moving a lot more.
I am waiting on everyone to wake up now so we can get on the road to home. It's only 5 hours so we could be home early afternoon. I look forward to my own bed again.
