Another morning yesterday where I actually slept a little longer. Will wonders never cease? The sun was already up by the time I got out to soak and the fog was largely burned off.
Before lunch both boys wrote out all the Valentines cards to their classmates. J did his first but he has over 20 kids in his class and is able to fairly legibly write each name. He had a list so he had the spelling in front of him. R did his next and he managed to get the names legible enough. Only 10 kids including himself and after he was done I stapled them into pairs with the extras from the box. Today they have festivities most of the day in primary and he will have the same in pre.
After lunch I spent time working on my scales and Whiskey Before Breakfast. My focus is on learning to associate the notes to finger position. G string 0-2-4-5 is G-A-B-C, D string 0-2-3-5 is D-E-F-G. I am doing scale repetitions in random directions and am saying the note with each fret. It is beginning to sink in and stick slowly.
The sun was out and again nice and warm. The chickens found the nice bright area near my truck where there is also snowless ground for them to scratch around.
The throwy ball game thing was on and really it has always been about the commercials and the movie previews. So much garbage rhetoric spewed over the whole pregame stuff and I caught bits of it as I did random chores around the house.
I had collected a bin of eggs earlier and after washing the duck eggs I decided to make us waffles for dinner. We have a few different options for shape and I went with the Belgian. I used our buckwheat mix we get from Azure and before pouring the batter into the waffle maker I sprinkled a handful of bacon bits down then poured the batter over it and cooked them. It gives a nice bit of protein added to the buckwheat and makes for a more filling and nutritious meal. The boys each had another half.
I got the boys to bed on time since they have school today. Both were rather excited for today so seemed anxious for bed. The prospect of a massive load of sugar seems to get most kids excited. I managed an hour before getting too hot and tired.
We are getting a small storm system moving through today that will most likely be rain. Kitchen cleanup, mando practice, spread ice melt in some super slick spots in the yard, and then tonight the boys have wrestling practice.
