After My Finally Using My Electrician Training and Returning A Favor yesterday I came home with 4 more used pallet covers. So today I installed them on the bales. I had to pull the tarp to expose them and also for putting in the boards.
A few days ago we had a rain that ended up filling in the valleys between the bales and raising the tarp edges. So to fix that I am using old office dividers I have had for years. Luckily they have been standing next to the bales the whole time, so I didn't have to move them far.
I used 4 total and when I retarped the hay it was immediately obvious this is a perfect fix. Now the snow and rain will not cause problems. I am sure this will make removing the snow easier as well which is a major benefit. Less work shoveling snow the better.
I am one cover shy of having enough but it is no problem as I will be rolling a bale into their pen in a week. The bales that are being store for a month or more are all double covered.
