Nice morning yesterday after the round of thunderstorms on Friday. We got a nice bright sun and a fairly clear sky which lasted for the morning.

Mid morning 2 of my 3 rolls of plastic mulch delivered. The plastic I have in the garden now is largely 5 years or older and is needing to be replaced. Now that I have identified the proper way to lay the plastic this fall/winter I want to rebuild the irrigation and cut the rows in the new runs. I need to make the rows evenly spaced as everything in the garden was cut to the irrigation so the rows vary in width. I want even 3 foot spacing between rows and one foot spacing between emitters in each row. Then the irrigation will get setup to be the same even 3 foot spacing as the rows vary as is. I just need to decide if I want to have 4 or 5 rows.

I staged more for the new garden by rolling the fencing down to it and getting the fence posts stuck where I will pound them in. The clouds had began to build after noon and when I looked at the doppler it showed the storms building up and sitting nearly stationary over the region. There was some really intense looking rains to our south for a few hours and we ended up getting arms of the storms raining on us.

Right before 3pm I went out to get the fire going for the evening and I timed it perfectly for when I had the flames sustained burning the skies opened up and a healthy downpour pounded down for a good hour.

My fire survived and I built it up again while I split some kindling. I was looking at the pile of kindling I had covered with an old plastic lid and I remembered the old atm that I have had since 2008 and I decided to finally deal with it.

See I had gotten the thing for free from a guy in Spokane Valley when we lived down there and it was unlocked at the time. At one point I accidentally locked it and then tried to break into it. I put it aside for a year or two then tried again hoping to be able to use it again but kept giving up. It got set aside and it sat for at least 10 years. Yesterday I drug the thing away from the studio and took my crowbars to it and finally broke the door off of it.

The thing is HEAVY metal and the screws are all rusted into the drawer rails so I won't be taking that out right now. As I stood over the now opened atm I realized that the door is the PERFECT thing for me to use as a snow blade to attach to my old tiller. That idea is excitedly romping around my brain now as I work on the design.

I hauled the case up to the fire pit and set it on the pallet that the kindling had been piled on. I Split enough kindling to fill it up and set a piece of metal on top to cover the holes in the case.

My kindling safe. Finally a use for the damned thing. I am even able to store my mauls and axes standing up in front of the kindling which keeps them out of the rain and weather now.

By 6pm the mass of storms that had built up rather quickly dissipated and disappeared to let us have the sun for the evening. I got our beefallo burgers on to grill, the salad made and the veggies cooked while they grilled.

We got out to soak for the sunset.

I have the scaffold setup so I can build the extension to the roof that will cover the a/c unit that will be in the window. It will be about an 18 inch extension that will span 4 rafters.

I had to get out for a while and to put the birds in. The clouds over the horizon made a distinct band of light through the trees.

Like a Hobbit's second breakfast we had our second soaking.

It's looking to be sunny all day and after I watch the travesty of a season end for Man Utd I will be getting a bale to the sheep so they stop yelling at me, then I want to build the roof extension which should only take a few hours, and I will grill again this evening.
