I can't help but feel like I have been on a different planet these days. Certainly not on mother Earth. Lava flows continue all around and reaches all the way down to sea level. It seems like the ocean was the only thing that put an end to the "invasion".

Today we decided to hike on an unmarked path, leading to the top of an extint volcano (there are hundreds here). On the way back, because it's just not cool to take the same route, we (and I mean the group leader husband) followed our own instinct and ended up lost. Good thing he is a certified wilderness expert 馃ぃ The problem here is that if you veer off any path, you are surrounded by lava...for days! So, just like that, we ended up on top of an old , ferocious looking lava flow and followed it down from about 500m. Luckily the lava stones were not too sharp to walk on, but the landscape is so sureal, I got this strange feeling like an ancient dragon beast was sleeping underneath all that lava, left undisturbed for centuries and I was going to awaken it with my steps 馃槅馃槄馃槱

No such exciting event happened though but all is good. Back at the campervan, still feeling the adrenaline rush. I can't believe a place like Lanzerote exists on our planet.
