Unique karst (limestone) formations containing caves inside along with longtail boats dominate the Krabi province of Thailand. This is near Railay beach, where rock climbers come from all over the globe to take up the challenge of climbing these formidable cliffs. There are no roads or walking trails in this region and the only way to get there is via the iconic longtail boats.
To get to Railay Beach, it may seem like quite a mystery at first. There are no signs anywhere - it truly is for those who are really determined to get there. Even though there is a designated area in Ao Nang to take the longtail boat to Railay Beach, it is not clear where the boats leave from, so you have to just keep asking locals or shopkeepers till someone points you in the right direction.
My advice: don't wear closed-toe shoes or long pants. Also it's better to carry a backpack instead of suitcases - you see, the longtail boats that pick you up and drop you off don't come to the shore. You go into the water and walk up to the boat. So, unless you want to be soaked and carry your suitcase up in the air as you walk through water, it is better to dress less and carry less.
