When you visit northern Italy, most guidebooks will tell you not to miss Lake Como. Instead, I'm going to insist that you don't miss Lake Garda. Nestled on the edge of the Dolomite Alps, the northern, narrower part of the lake (Alto Garda) is surrounded by mountains and offers phenomenal trekking and skiing. On the foothills of the mountain ranges, little, colorful villages, beaches, vineyards and olive trees extend as far as the eyes can see.
This is Lake Garda during a winter morning hike. Looking forward to seeing how it transforms now with spring coming.
