Greetings of the day,

Today was a special and meaningful day at the hospital because we participated in a poster competition based on Infection Prevention and Patient Safety. The activity was organised to create awareness among the healthcare team and to encourage everyone to think about how small actions and safe practices can make a big difference in patient care. We also got an opportunity to participate as a team, share our ideas and enjoy the learning experience together.

For the competition, we prepared our poster with a strong message related to infection prevention and patient safety. While preparing the poster, we tried to present important healthcare practices in a simple and creative way so that the message could be easily understood. The poster included different points related to preventing infections, maintaining safe practices and protecting patients. We wanted our presentation to be informative but also attractive enough to catch the attention of the staff.

One of the interesting things about such activities is that they allow us to learn outside our routine work. In our daily hospital duties, we regularly follow infection prevention practices, but when we have to explain the same concepts through a poster, we start looking at them from another perspective. We have to decide which message is most important, how to present it clearly and how to make sure that people remember it after seeing the poster. This made the preparation itself a useful learning experience for us.

There were several teams participating in the competition, and everyone had prepared their posters with effort and creativity. The atmosphere was positive, and it was nice to see staff members coming together for something related to patient safety. Along with the educational purpose, the activity also gave everyone an opportunity to interact with colleagues from different areas of the hospital. There was a good combination of learning, teamwork and a little friendly competition.

Today, the Surgical Oncology team was invited as the judging team for the competition. They visited the posters and carefully observed the presentations. They looked at the content, creativity and the way the important infection prevention and patient safety messages were presented. It was interesting to explain our poster to the judges and hear their observations. Having members of the Surgical Oncology team as judges also made the event more meaningful because surgical oncology involves many areas where infection prevention and patient safety are extremely important.

After the judging was completed, the winners were announced and rewards were given to the winning teams. Everyone appreciated the efforts of the participants. Even though a competition has winners, I feel that the real benefit of such an activity is the awareness created among the entire team. Every participant spends time thinking about patient safety, infection prevention and the responsibilities we have as healthcare professionals.

We also clicked some photographs during the event to capture these moments. In one of the photographs, we are standing together with our poster, while another photograph shows colleagues participating in the activity and working together. These pictures will remain as a good memory of the day. I especially liked seeing everyone involved in the activity with smiles and enthusiasm.

For me, infection prevention is not limited to audits, checklists or policies. It is something that should become part of our everyday behaviour in the hospital. Hand hygiene, appropriate use of personal protective equipment, safe practices, environmental cleanliness, proper waste segregation, prevention of healthcare associated infections and maintaining patient safety all require consistent efforts from every member of the healthcare team.

Activities like today's poster competition help us communicate these important messages in a different way. They also remind us that patient safety is a shared responsibility. Doctors, nurses, technicians, housekeeping staff and every other healthcare worker have an important role to play.

Overall, today was a productive and enjoyable day. We participated in the poster competition, shared our ideas, learned from other teams, interacted with the Surgical Oncology judging team and celebrated the efforts of everyone involved. It was not just a competition for us, but another opportunity to strengthen our commitment towards infection prevention, patient safety and better healthcare practices.
