Greetings of the day,
Today I went near the pond in the evening and while enjoying the peaceful surroundings, I noticed a beautiful bird walking near the water. I immediately took out my phone and clicked a few photographs because its appearance caught my attention.
After looking closely at the photographs, I identified the bird as a Black-headed Ibis, also known as the Indian White Ibis or Oriental White Ibis. Its scientific name is Threskiornis melanocephalus. The identification matched its white body, black head and neck, black legs and long, curved black bill. This bird is commonly associated with wetlands, ponds, marshy areas and other water bodies.
What I liked most was watching the bird quietly move through the shallow water. Its long curved bill is especially interesting because it uses it to search for food in mud and shallow water. Seeing such a bird so close while taking a simple evening walk made the visit more enjoyable.
The pond was calm and the surroundings were green, which made it a perfect place to slow down for a while. Sometimes a small observation during a normal walk becomes the most memorable part of the day. I was not expecting to photograph a beautiful wetland bird, but I was happy that I noticed it and captured these moments.
Walking is already a good way to stay active, but when nature gives you something interesting to observe, the walk becomes even more enjoyable. Today, instead of only counting my steps, I also got a chance to spend some time observing wildlife around the pond.
It was a simple evening, a peaceful pond and a beautiful bird, but these small moments reminded me that nature is always around us if we take the time to notice it.
