PROCESS
For this drawing I used a set of very simple watercolors, the kind used for school, they were given to me on my birthday so I decided to use them for the first time. As for the paper, I used Fabriano watercolor paper, where I did some tests and I liked how the water runs through the surface, as well as being very resistant. I cut a 20 centimeter painting on all four sides and then I made a sketch of a hummingbird flying almost imperceptibly, so that the pencil line would not be seen under the painting.
Para este dibujo utilicé un set de acuarelas muy sencillas, de las que se usan para la escuela, me las obsequiaron el día de mi cumpleaños así que decidí usarlas por primera vez. En cuanto al papel utilicé papel Fabriano para acuarela, donde hice unas pruebas y me gustó como el agua recorre la superficie ademas de muy resistente. Corte un cuadro de 20 centímetros por sus cuatro lados y luego hice el boceto de un colibrí volando casi imperceptible, para que no se viera el trazo del lápiz por debajo de la pintura.
After having everything ready, paints, paper and drawing, I got down to work without fear, first of all I started painting the head, I made the mistake of wetting the brush too much and I think the painting was very co-focused, however As I expanded the brushstroke, I noticed that the color was diluted and that's when I understood how this works. Then I began to combine colors without any hesitation, so I put green, blue, purple and orange, 'to try to make those little feathers that it has on its chest, so then I went down the body of the hummingbird until I painted the part where they are his legs and also part of the wings and of course also the tail.
Después de tener todo preparado, pinturas, el papel y el dibujo puse manos a la obra sin miedo, en primer lugar comencé pintanto la cabeza, cometí el error de mojar demasiado el pincel y creo que la pintura me quedó muy coincentrada, sin embargo a medida que expandiendo la pincelada notaba que se diluía el color y ahí entendí como funciona esto. Luego comencé a combinar colores sin ninguna clase de reparo, así que puse verde, azúl violeta y naranja, ´para tratar de hacer esas pequeñas plumas que tiene en el pecho, así luego fui bajando por el cuerpo del colíbri hasta pintar la parte donde estan sus patitas y también parte de las alas y por supuesto tambien la cola.
In the next few steps I was already feeling very confident in handling the paint, so I kept adding volume to the feathers using a soft brush stroke, and then darkening like that. As you can see I put more colors on the tail feathers at the same time I started painting its wings. First I put a soft blue base color and then I darkened the middle using violet.
En los siguientes pasos ya sentía mucha confianza a la hora de manejar la pintura, así que seguí dándole volumen a las plúmas utilizando una pincelada suave, y luego así iba oscureciendo. Como pueden observar le puse mas colores a las plumas de la cola al mismo tiempo comenceé a pintar sus alas. Primero puse una base de color azul suave y luego fui oscureciendo la mitad utilizando violeta.
After applying those first layers of colors in a smooth way, I took courage and began to paint with more enthusiasm, so I added more colors and tried to play with the shapes of the feathers, but before my drawing became deformed, I went back to painting calmly and concentrate on the small details. Then with the black ink I began to outline the edges of the drawing and the wings on the inside, in the same way I painted the beak and the eye of the hummingbird and that way it was finished.
Luego de aplicar esas primeras capas de colores de una forma suave tomé valor y comencé a pintar con más entusiasmos así que agregué más colores he intente jugar con las formas de las plumas, pero antes de que mi dibujo se deformara volvi a pintar con calma y concentrarme en los pequeños detalles. Luego con la tinta negra comencé a delinear los bordes del dibujo y de las alas en la parte interna, de esa misma forma pinté el pico y el ojo del colibrí y de esa manera quedó finalizado.
FINAL WORK
This is how this illustration was finished, I think that for the first time that I use watercolors it looks very good, I really imagined a disaster lol. Once again I thank @scarletcorner for the encouragement he gave me, it is always good to try new things in what we like the most and the best of all is that we are always learning something new.
