Back in 1998 there was plenty of buzz regarding the NFL Draft. Everyone knew that the first two picks were going to be quarterbacks. These two QB'S fresh out of college were 'Peyton Manning' and 'Ryan Leaf.' What nobody knew however, is what exact order they would be chosen.

Needless to say, Peyton Manning went on to have a stellar career. In fact, he won a Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos.

Yep, not just one Super Bowl ring but TWO.

The second overall pick in the NFL Draft was 'Ryan Leaf' and his professional football team became the San Diego Chargers. Leaf remained in the NFL for just four years.

After his 'retirement' from professional football, Leaf spent 2 years in prison. The reason? Breaking into someone's house to steal prescription drugs.

I know this story quite well because I am a Charger fan and I actually had a large poster of Ryan Leaf on my wall.

But this story has a happy ending . . .

Today Ryan Leaf officially announced that he will be joining ESPN to become a play-by-play announcer. He cleaned-up his act, got his life together, and now will be starting a brand new chapter in his life.

I have always rooted for Ryan Leaf, and some things will never change. I am truly happy for the guy.
