As someone who grew up watching anime, I tend to appreciate bit sized episodes. 20-30 mins is quite ideal when I want to take a break from work or unwind end of the day and watch a show that won't consume an hour or more of my time. I enjoy longer shows just as much but preferences change on a day to day basis.
This was the first thing I liked about this show when it was recommended to me recently and I decided to watch it. As someone who loved the time-loop concept from the Edge of Tomorrow movie, I was looking forward to watching something similar and Netflix delivers and how.
The beginning might seem a tiny bit slow paced but then it picks up pace beautifully and you will feel great for having stuck with series. It has very good entertainment value throughout!
This isn't a comedy series, atleast doesn't come across like it as it's dark and unpleasant sometimes and also funny in it's own ways. Natasha Lyonne has done great justice to the character in my opinion and the show gets into the top gear from 3rd episode onwards so stick around .
The dialogues seems quite natural, the acting is impressive, casting seems spot on so far to me as all the character portrayals were great. Script and writing seemed great to me as well as the story of the series. It has some emotional moments in it as well.
As usual I didn't watch the trailer and dived into this purely on recommendation. This is becoming a habit with me off late but I'm quite pleased so far.
The idea of diving into a great show without knowing too much about it and coming out of it having enjoyed all of it is a great feeling and I feel I derive good entertainment value out of it. I don't do this a lot nevertheless, because I love watching trailers generally speaking.
There are many time loop movies in the history of cinema but in recent times I've enjoyed the Edge of Tomorrow more than most others. As far as TV shows are concerned, this is probably in the top 5 or top 10 list for me! It's well made for a time-loop idea which is not original at all but the execution here is wonderful.
Russian Doll is thought provoking and has some mysterious elements to it. I haven't gone too much in depth to not spoil it for anyone here. I would go so far as to call some aspects of the show genius. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I rate this at 4/5.
