How to write better comments using the 4 Toltec agreements [EN/PT]

The Toltec people were a Pre-Colombian Mesoamerican tribe that lived in the south of Mexico. They were a society made of artists, scientists and creative thinkers, that gave birth later to the Aztec people. They were a very rich and cultural tribe, always thriving for more knowledge and understanding of the world. Even today you can still find decedents of these tribes, that keep alive their traditions and wisdom. And one of these people is Don Miguel Ruiz.

At a very early age, he started learning the Toltec teachings from his parents, and after a brutal car accident, he decided to leave his old life behind and started to reflect on those teachings, finding his own path of awareness and spreading them to the world. One of them is "The Four Agreements" that I'm talking about in this post, but you really should get to know all of his work. You can start here! You won't regret, I promise.
I read the four agreements for the first time when I was living on the road. I remember that I got crazy on how such a small book could contain so much information, able to totally change my point of view about life. In the book he talks about the the virtual mind of the world, the connections between people, the true state of the mind, and many other very interesting subjects. And then he gives you the four agreements for personal freedom, that I also recommend you to put them into practice in your life, but here my focus will be only in writing good comments. (humble right? yes, that's me... hehehe)
1- Be Impeccable With Your Word.
Words are magical, filled with the power to create or to destroy. We should never write a comment that we don't really mean what we are writing. For me this one is really tricky since English is not my first language, so I always have a dictionary tab opened here, and many times I do some research into the meanings of what I'm writing. A word said can never be taken back, and a word written in a block-chain really can never be taken back. If you want to comment but is without inspiration, a good old "Thanks for sharing, this was meaningful to me" is more than enough. Don't comment just for the sake of it, commit yourself to your words.
2 - Don't Take Anything Personally
This could also go well when reading comments, because most of the time people tell us a lot about themselves when they are writing to us. If you read something that makes you angry, don't take it personally, and don't make a comment about the person who wrote it, try to talk about what was written. The best way to comment is to just distance yourself from what made you angry and talk about your point of view. Don't attack just because you don't agree, not everything is about you.
3 - Don't Make Assumptions
This one is really good! And it's really hard to do! How many times you assumed something about a situation just to find out that you were completely wrong? I know that I've been there a lot of times. We never know how the other is feeling on that day, what happened to make them write this or that. Maybe you comment something and got no answer (this is a golden one). You get angry, you get frustrated, you loose faith in humanity, and afterwards you find out that the person only had to go to sleep because they are in a different time-zone from you, or maybe they had no internet for days, or maybe their free time is just so short that they can't answer all the comments. This agreement is very interesting to make personal and precises comments: You talk only about yourself, how you felt, and what you can take from it.
4 - Always Do Your Best
I don't think this one needs explanation, but I'd like to say something about "Do you best". Every time I hear this I remember an old saying: "Sometimes the maximum effort is just a little bit". Just because it's your best it doesn't mean big, great, unbelievable! It just means you are putting you heart in it. Some day you can do 100%, some days you can do 20%, and in both cases you did the best you could do. Be kind to yourself. When you do your best, even if it is just a little bit, people can feel it.
So that's it for today my friends! I hope you like this post, I did my best to try to be clear and maybe help people like me, that struggle when trying to make a good comment. And now, why don't you put it to practice and comment on this post? I would love to hear from all of you!
Keep posting and keep shining!
Siga postando e siga brilhando! E vamo que vamo!
