No matter how confident and experience an artist is, our biggest fear is for the client to not be impressed or satisfied by a portrait they've ordered/requested for. The reality is, this has happened to most artists as they grow and I have had my personal share in the past. You hear things life ; "This isn't my mother" , "Who's this??", "Is that my wife??"..lol
I remember one time when the client complained that the subject (who was supposed to be his wife) doesn't look like his wife. This was a serious case and was happening at my early stage when I just began portraiture. I had just started having a good reputation but this was "BAD MARKET". I tried my best to make adjustments but this lady in the portrait refused to look like his wife ( mostly because there was an error in the size of her face and eye level). Well, to make the story short, I had to draw using another reference photo just to please the customer. He still refers and patronizes till date. Ever since then I've learnt to be patient with my works most especially those ordered by clients.
