After a lull, I'm preoccupied with my day job (I'm busy - yay!) and matters market. I - and we - are getting better organised.
I have a new trommel a little larger than the first one that I got about a year ago. That one made a huge difference to my life. Especially after the bottom literally fell out of one of the cardboard boxes I'd been wont to use. The second one (at the bottom) carries almost the full compliment of sufficient stock for one market and the upshot: we have replaced four boxes with those two and packing them carefully means they're not too heavy for even me to carry.
It's only taken, ahem, 20 years and seven in our current spot, for us to start putting up signs. In our defense, and when I joined the market, nine years ago, the market had only about six regular stalls. Now, each week, we're a minimum of 15 strong. Not only that, the village has grown and there are new folk who, wait for it do not know about the market. Also there are folk with accommodation establishments, and, yes, I'm going to shout again don't tell their guests about the market.
I kid you not.
Anyhow, I will (obviously) be sharing more about markets: we're now planning for spring and summer - and autumn... watch this space, hahaha!
So, to Monday supper.
Last night's meat free Monday was a kinda Mexican affair with tortillas (I really am getting better at them). The filling was robot peppers (with a little chilli) fajitas and melty cheese.
I said I'm getting better at the tortilla. Part of it is because of my new beast which is fast becoming my favourite kitchen appliance, and part of it is changing the recipe on the advice of someone who makes them regularly.
Although the photo doesn't do them justice, last night's tortilla were soft and light and folded without cracking. Yes, it's that old story: practise does make perfect!
