I was thinking about that, that they undervalue inflation on purpose. If I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt, why they do this, is to manage inflation expectations.
But that's only a temporary measure, at the end of the day, everyone in the supply chain is going to raise prices, because the money and lack of supply is raising prices, and if people recognize that the government is consistently off, they will adjust their perceptions, and think inflation is twice as bad as what the government is reporting, as I am thinking right now.
