Fun Fixing a Sewing Machine
I got a "new" 70s era Kenmore machine from a thrift store and just oiled it so I could assess any needed repairs. Everything is moving as it should be so far. I need to replace the missing bobbin

Sweaters in Progress
This weekend I took a break from sock knitting and unearthed 2 bags, each containing a sweater started a couple of years ago. As some of you know, I had a traumatic event around then and put a lot of things

Feeny's Luxury Carrier
This is Feeny in the carrier I bought over two years ago when we brought him from North Carolina. We pulled it out of storage for a trip to the vet for a checkup last week. Once we got back home, he decided

Saturday Sock Post
I just started some spiral rib tube socks in 2 shades of purple. The tiny stitches mean these socks will take many hours. But I just finished a pair of quick socks in heavy worsted, too. These will be

Happy Camper
Feeny is enjoying the sleeping bag we put down for him in the living room. His teddy bear is nearby. He is a privileged kitten to have his own camping gear!

Finished Projects this Week
My colorwork mittens are done, including thumbs. The pattern called for continuing the color pattern on the thumbs, but I did not feel ambitious enough to carry multiple colors in a small space. I adjust

Hat and Scarf Project Done
I wish you could touch this scarf and feel how soft and cozy it is. The yarn is Lion Brand Heartland, an acrylic that is soft, not scratchy. The wide scarf in garter stitch has stockinette stitch patch

More Mitten Progress
Two mitten bodies, close enough to matching, are ready for thumbs. This is an interesting process, so I'd like to share it. First, I must carefully put onto needles the stitches held on the yellow waste

Feeny on Top of the Pile
Does anyone remember "The Princess and the Pea" fairy tale? She proved she was royalty by her ability to feel a pea under a huge pile of mattresses. While there is no pea under this stack of

Saturday Sock Mending
This sock had holes at the ball of the foot and at the heel. Some sock wool and a darning needle will fix things. The picture above shows the long threads laid over the hole to form the warp for the weaving.

Feeny Loves Bags
We know all cats love boxes. My Feeny, however, also enjoys all sorts of bags. Here he is in one of his newest bags. It also has a zipper if he needs a toy. Zipper pulls are fun to bat around.

Making Belts with Macrame Cord
I was in need of a belt to match some interesting fabric in some muted colors. After finding no ribbon in a coordinating pink (all the pink ribbons were too purple or too peachy) I went to the yarn department

Progress on Projects
Above you see one mitten with the top finished. I am waiting to do the thumb until I also have the matching mitten, which I just started: Another step, the bane of many knitters, is the necessary weaving

Friday Update: My Projects
First, here is the progress on my colorful mittens. It is almost time to shape the top of the first mitten. Then I will pick up the stitches for the thumb and then on to make a mate for it. Next, I took

Productive Winter Days
This is a mitten knit according to a pattern for mittens from Finland. The small color patterns serve a practical purpose as well as a decorative function. Extra colors are carried behind the work, making

Gym Socks Finished
I remember wearing white socks with colored stripes in gym class. I mostly wore knee-high cotton socks, but in my modern interpretation the socks are lightweight wool crew socks. I chose a creamy white
