God prepares ordinary people for an extraordinary life according to His plan. In the same way that God had a plan for John the Baptist's life; God has an amazing plan for yours. Do you believe that God has an extraordinary plan for your life?
And behold, you shall be silent and unable to speak until the day when these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”
The people were waiting for Zacharias, and were wondering at his delay in the temple. But when he came out, he was unable to speak to them; and they realized that he had seen a vision in the temple; and he kept making signs to them, and remained mute.

God was at work in John’s life even before he was born. This was made clear by the announcement of the angel to John’s father, the righteous priest, Zechariah. He and his barren wife Elizabeth were promised a son in their old age. This amazing news seemed to good to be true for Zechariah, that he did not believe it. For a time, Zechariah suffered the consequence of his unbelief—he lost his ability to speak
But upon John’s birth, his father affirmed God’s plan for his son by naming him, “John” This was the name that God gave before John was born, and it means “God is gracious”. John fulfilled God’s gracious plan for his life to be a “forerunner” of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God. It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, so as to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
