Only if time could wait, I would go back to the moments I wished would last forever. I would stay a little longer in the laughter, hold on tighter to the people I love, and appreciate the simple moments that I once thought were ordinary.
Only if time could wait, I would tell the people who mean the most to me how much they matter. I would say the words I kept inside, make the calls I kept postponing, and spend more time with those whose presence makes life feel a little warmer.
Sometimes, we are so busy waiting for tomorrow that we forget to live today. We keep telling ourselves, “There will be time.” Time to meet again. Time to say sorry. Time to chase our dreams. Time to sit with our loved ones. Time to become the person we always wanted to be.
But time does not wait for anyone.
It moves through our lives quietly, taking childhood with it, changing people, closing chapters, and turning yesterday into memories before we even realise it. Some moments disappear so quickly that we only understand their value after they are gone.
If only time could wait, perhaps we would notice the beauty in the little things—the morning conversations, the unexpected smiles, the familiar voices, the hugs we sometimes take for granted, and the peaceful days we once thought were nothing special.
But since time cannot wait, maybe we should.
Maybe we should slow down.
Maybe we should stop worrying so much about what comes next and start appreciating what is already here. We should make time for the people we love, forgive while we still can, express our feelings without fear, and pursue the dreams we keep putting off.
Because one day, the things we are rushing through today may become the memories we wish we could return to.
Only if time could wait, we would have the chance to relive everything.
But it cannot.
So while it is still ours, let us make every moment count. Let us love a little harder, laugh a little louder, forgive a little sooner, and live a little more fully.
Because time may never wait for us, but we can choose not to waste it.
