Today’s prompt is:
champagne
This is part twenty nine of my current freewrite series - I’m calling it RatsNest for now - (posted daily Monday - Saturday).

As she approached the Government building she felt something touch her mind. It was a giddy feeling: it reminded her of her first glass of champagne, she had stolen from a tray at her uncle's wedding, after being expressly told not to by her father.
She had drunk the bubbly liquid way too fast. She guzzled the wine quickly, partly because she was hiding behind the shed and could hear people approaching and she feared she would be caught, but mostly because she didn't really like the taste.
She had hidden the empty glass amongst the rhubarb plants and joined her father as he stood talking to someone she recognised but could not place. As she stood there she suddenly had a wave of giddiness, very much like the feeling she was experiencing now. She remembered stumbling into the man her father was talking to, and she remembered the look her father had shot her.
She also remembered the beating she had taken and how she had had to reign in her dragon before he attacked her father.
Leaning against the wall of the Government building she stopped and took a breath.
