"That's a shame," Faver said and his hand, holding the bag, fell to his side. "I was looking forward to eating with you. It's been a very long time since I've shared a meal with someone else."
That didn't surprise Kelly. He looked like the kind of man who you would avoid sitting next to at the canteen. A bore.
"Well, if you are going to eat that," she said huffily. "I would prefer it if you didn't eat it in the same room as me."
Faver nodded. He pulled something out of his pocket. It was a small plastic bag.
A baggie, Kelly thought.
Her dad had shown her a documentary on drug use once. The dealer in the movie had sold his drugs in these baggies.
"You might be interested in this," Faver said.
Curious, Kelly took the baggie and looked at its contents. It contained small white crystals.
"Salt," Faver said. "It comes from the sea."
