They come and go, but I can see another wave of onboarding efforts and events right now.
Which successful bloggging platform on the internet had such a marketing campaign?
Did facebook (reddit, twitter, myspace) need onboarding efforts and did they reward them?
Did google+ use marketing, how did it work out for them?
What did the Hive (Steem) marketing campaigns achieve this far? (It's been 5 years)
Remember Steem academy?
Remember the Steem movie they advertised at Steemfest Lisbon?
Remember Steem Park? (Which ended up being the most expensive flower pot in the world)
Remember Charlie Shrem? sirtonywinchester? Remember ned??
How much money did we blast so far, to which effect?
What happened to the latest marketing proposal? (200k$ down the drain afaik)
(despite the ridiculously poorly chosen name Hive)
Which type of users does that attract?
Who needs convincing to be their own banker, news-curator?
Who needs convincing when they see payouts for blogs?
Will these people stay and create value within this system?
Can you force an entrepeneurial mindset on people?
Can you sway someone, who can not see the ingenuity of the Hive protocol?
(or what is left of it since the change in curation rewards)
Does it help to boost their first payout for an introduceyourself?
What is your impression, when someone tries to sell you their platform?
Where will the new users be in 1 year?
I think, if this idea does not speak for itself, there is absolutely no point in onboarding and marketing efforts. This idea is too scary for most people. They will never be convinced.
It takes a certain type of personality to pick up on it and you simply can not force people to start thinking for themselves ...until outer circumstances call for it.
Until then, we just have to wait, watch the markets and set ourselves up with a stake.
Until the right time for this idea comes, there is no point in onboarding. It either happens by itself or never; You can not push people this far without creating defiance.
As long as the frontends, clients, games ...opportunities do not speak for themselves all marketing is directed at you the Hiveian; the marketers are marketing nothing but their own services to us.
Move on, keep blogging, commenting, voting until Hive succeeds or fails.
Stop hyping newbies before they even had a chance to prove their merit.
