The other day, I sent 200HBD to a Venezuelan.
He has since found the money in his wallet and was very grateful.
Seems like he can make good use of the coins.
I am happy this went down well.
Today, I am making another post, blowing my own horn, again.
Because I did it again:
In the comment section of the first post, another friendly Venezuelan popped up: @bertrayo
He was not too impressed with me sending the money away just randomly and pointed out, that a new phone might not be the most important thing, considering the current situation in Venezuela.
I am a bit ignorant to the whole situation.
I have no real idea what life is like over there right now.
So my decision was not the wisest choice, but he seemed to appreciate the gesture.
He had good English, so I tried offering him to do some translations from time to time for me.
We met in Discord and started chatting away.
...and then I also send him 200HBD 馃槆
I am sitting on quite an amount of HIVE, enough money to really make a difference in some people's lives. But I can already give away money in the form of posting rewards. Staking and voting can already make a difference, and it does not eat away at my funds.
I have been doing exactly that for more than 5 years and I will keep doing it.
You know how it goes:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day,
Teach him to code javascript and you confuse him for a lifetime.
But it is not like these men do not know how to work for themselves, it is that their circumstances do not allow for it; The ressources are just not as available.
Posting content here and getting rewarded for it, is already the best approach that I could support and I will focus more on that in the future.
For now, I am looking forward to the posts about what they could afford from the funds, what they managed to purchase.
If you want to support me doing things like this, please vote.
I just send away some 1-2% of my total HIVE funds 馃槀
