Today was another Saturday and honestly I thought I was going to use today to rest and do some things for myself as a student because Saturdays are usually the only time I get to breathe small after a busy school week especially now that I'm writing an exam, I would relax and maybe do some personal things and just enjoy my day.
But my mother had another plan for me,
My mother is still in the village while I am here in the city so whenever she needs something from the city I am usually the one she sends. She will send me the money and I will withdraw it and buy whatever she wants, then take it to the waterside and waybill it to the village through boat.
And the journey from the city to the village is not a small one. It takes about two hours by boat, so you can imagine the kind of stress involved.
After what happened last Saturday I thought maybe this Saturday would be different, I even told myself that I had already suffered enough last week But early this morning my phone rang and
It was my mother and Immediately I saw her name, I already had a feeling that she wanted me to go somewhere. She told me that she had sent money and I should go and buy the madiga I used to buy for her and send them to the village.
I just sat there for a while.I was like "again"
Honestly, I wasn't happy because I was already looking forward to rest today But what can I do? She is my mother and I can't just tell her no when she needs my help. So I got up, took my bath, brushed my teeth and dressed up and started preparing for the journey.
I went to the place where I was supposed to get the things, When I arrived they were still preparing them so I had to wait. The thing they were preparing is what we normally call "Madiga" and they prepare it almost like cake, so it doesn't get ready immediately so I waited there for quite some time, At some point I was already getting tired of sitting there, I just wanted them to finish so I could continue my journey.
Finally they finished preparing everything and I packed the things, paid for them and started moving towards the waterside.
I entered a tricycle and headed straight to the place where I was going to put the things on the boat.
When I got there I thought I had already passed the hardest part but another small problem was waiting for me,
The weather started changing again like last Saturday and it began to rain again and Everywhere became somehow slow and I was already hungry because I hadn't eaten properly because that is my policy whenever I go somewhere I don't like to eat plenty.
Then the boat driver told me that I needed to pay the waybill money before he would allow me to load the things as usual and
I was surprised because my mother had not sent the waybill money yet and She thought she would pay when things arrived at the village.
I explained everything to the driver and begged him to allow me to load the things first, telling him that my mother would pay when it got there But the man refused.
He said he couldn't allow the things into the boat without payment.
At that point, I had no choice but to call my mother, I called her and her number wasn't connecting. I tried again and it still didn't connect so I was already getting frustrated because I was standing there with the things and it's raining and I was hungry too the weather was not helping and the driver was waiting for his money.
I tried again and finally the call connected,
I quickly explained everything to my mother and She understood the situation and sent the money immediately so
I went to withdraw the money and gave it to the driver. After receiving the money he finally allowed me to load everything into the boat, at least that problem was solved,
I waited for a little while as they prepared the boat to leave, Once everything was ready and I watched the things being taken away to the village and I just felt relieved.
After that I started my own journey back home,
By the time I finally got home and I was seriously tired and hungry
Honestly I can confidently say I stress pass last Saturday and I thought last Saturday was stressful but today decided to show me that there is another level of stress.
What was supposed to be my free Saturday turned into another day of moving around, waiting, entering the tricycle, dealing with rain, calling my mother and thinking about transportation and waybill money.
But anyway it is what it is.
At least I was able to do what my mother asked me to do and the things have been sent to the village safely.
Now I just want to eat and lie down and rest Because if another errand comes tomorrow I might just pretend I didn't hear my phone ringing.
