For the first time in a long time today, I decided to go on Kickstarter to check out some games that are currently looking for backing when I stumbled across a little game called The Cork by Parlor Studios.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit picky when it comes to games. There was a time 5-10 years ago where I'd pretty much play any game that was thrown at me, but over the past 5 years, I've been a lot more selective when it comes to games that I actually want to buy and play. The Cork just happens to be one of those games.

Before I get into this, I HIGHLY suggest checking out it's Kickstarter page here.

The Cork is a bit of an unusual name for a game for a start, but I didn't want to judge a game simply by it's name.

I looked over what was written about the game and was fairly impressed by it's pixelated visuals and gameplay. This game seems like it could be the next hit indie game and I'm being dead serious about that. In the past few years, we've seen games like Hollow Knight and Celeste become big indie hits and this game reminds me a bit of both.

It just seems like an eerie but fun little 2D action-RPG game. It seems like it has a pretty good story to it and the music is honestly some of the best that I've heard from any recent game indie or otherwise. It's honestly REALLY damn good!

And then I watched the video on the page and honestly...

I'm sold!

I will be backing this game without a doubt. Honestly, watch the video for yourself and see if you like it.

For the first time ever I'll be backing a project on Kickstarter. I'm on the fence between the $10 and $25 tier. The $10 tier will get me a copy of the game and my name in the credits (how cool is that?!), but the $25 tier will also get me a few other things as well but most importantly a copy of the game's soundtrack which is one of the things that sold me on this project. Kudos to the composer on that one!

This project just launched a couple days ago and already has 111 backers. When I first seen it this morning it had 104 so it's gaining some attention for sure. They're up to $2,354 of their $50,000 goal at the time of this writing.

This is an "all or nothing" project meaning that if it doesn't get it's full funding goal of $50,000 then none of the backers get charged so if you're interested in backing it as well, just know that you won't be charged if the project doesn't succeed in hitting it's funding goal.

I was impressed enough by just the Kickstarter campaign that I decided to not only write this article, but to help back the game myself. Even if I only go for the $10 tier, I know that every little bit helps :)

Update: I've pledged $10 to help fund the project!
