Hello faithful steemians, hope we're doing great. So I have always complained about gender inequality and its one sided view. I can say I'm a man rights activist if there's anything like that. I have always tried to voice my opinion especially when it comes to discussions about the one-sidedness of rape arguments, sexual harassment etc. I didn't know I was going to experience my own little share of it. Yes little because it did not involve rape or any serious allegation.

It was a clear Monday morning, everything was moving smoothly. I prepared to go to work, I decided to wear a sweater in spite of the hot weather because I had fever. So I got the park and boarded a tricycle. I joined a lady at the back, making two of us. We continued to wait till the third person joined us, a lady too. So it remains one person for the vehicle to get filled up and start it's journey. The last person came and alas, it was a lady.

The last person normally sits in front beside the driver. The conductor (the person whose job is to call on passengers to board vehicles) was looking at my direction, I knew what he was about to say because this isn't the first time this is happening. I waited, then he said it. He asked me if I could sit in front so the last lady could sit at the back. My stomach churned, I pretended like I didn't understand what he was asking me. The he said it again!!! I hesitated and relunctantly went and joined the driver in front.

I could have argued and refused and do all sorts but I decided not to. I mean to what end? Besides I was weak and was just interested in getting to my office. The point is, what would have happened if all the persons that boarded that tricycle were ladies? Would the conductor have asked another lady to come forward? Definitely not.

The same goes for other little issues that involves gender. The point I'm making is, gender inequality is not only a female thing. Males too have issues that needs closer attention. For instance, if a guy and a lady bump into each other, the guy will most likely be accused of sexual misconduct or 'sharp practices' even by fellow male counterparts especially if the lady is pretty and attractive. The same goes for sex. We look at sex as a one way thing, I.e guys are always to blame for any sexual mishap which is completely wrong. Some even think only ladies can be raped, guys are being raped too, I have friends that were raped by older females.

I know this is a completely subjective view of the topic but it is my sincere desire that people will at least see things from my perspective. Thank you for reading.
