One important thing I have learnt from hive is the fact that I got to know the existence of Bangladesh. This prompted me into researching to know more about Bangladesh. I will be sharing what I have learnt into two parts while giving credit to the sources I got the information from.
According to Global Edge, Bangladesh is a country in Southern Asia and is located on the Bay of Bengal, bothered by India on all sides except for a small border with Burma.
According to Compassion Blog, Bangladesh is a country full of green hills, coursing rivers, delicious food, and vibrant storytelling.
Bangladesh contains 11,365 square miles (18,290 square kilometers) of water. It is home to the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta, the largest Delta in the world.
Nearly 90% of Bangladeshi people identify as Muslim making Bangladesh one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.
One of the things that caught my attention about Bangladesh was their food (note: I like food). I read a very interesting article about their food written by Mar. I got to know the following fact from that article.
Bangladesh food is generally spicy like Indian food and chili peppers are used in almost every dish (expect to feel a degree of heat with almost every dish). Food in Bangladesh is cooked in curry gravies made with onions, garlic, and oftentimes with small dried fish.
Frying is widely used to cook their food as ovens do not exist in most of Bangladesh's rural areas and boiling is less common. As with all Muslim countries, Bangladeshis eat with their right hand and do not use the left as this is considered impure.
Some of their traditional dish I will like to try when I go visiting are:
PITHA-RICE CAKES
It is a typical Bangladeshi food eaten at the beginning of winter when the rice harvest ends and that are found across the country
BORTHA-MASHED VEGETABLES AND FISH
This is the most common Bangladeshi food. Bortha refers to any vegetable that has been cooked and served mashed.
BIRYANI
Biryani is a favorite Bangladeshi food that is very popular in old Dhaka where it is sold in various stalls and restaurants. This dish is made with meat, goat, chicken prawns, or beef.
I can't end my post without talking about the fun places to visit in Bangladesh. The cities I will like to visit include Dhaka city, Bandardan, and Chittagong city.
I would also like to go to Bangladesh National Museum and Cox's Bazar Beach. I hope to see other hivians that live in Bangladesh. Please don't ask me when I would be visiting, I am still gathering my money😂
