There are songs you hear and dance to.
And then there are songs that hold you when you want to break down.
EBEZINA by Preye Odede held me.
First, the word itself — EBEZINA. In Igbo language it means “WORRY NOT” / “Don’t Cry”. Just hearing that word is already healing.
I was in a season where I was asking God so many questions. Midnight was heavy. I was smiling in public but crying in private. Then this song came.
The part that entered my soul:
“He is the same God who was there for you in the midnight hours...
He is the same God who is able to wipe your tears away”
I paused. I cried.
Midnight hours — He was there. Not the hours when everyone was cheering me. The hours when no one saw me. He saw me.
And He is not just watching my tears — He is able to wipe them away.
But the part that really caught me and shook me was when Preye asked:
“Tell me why you giving up on God?”
It felt like God was asking me directly.
Why are you giving up on the One who never gave up on you?
Why are you doubting the One who has carried you this far?
That question reset my faith. I realized worry is me trying to do God’s job. Ebezina is me giving the job back to Him.
