I have a teenager that lives with me. Since he came, there are certain things about him in discovered that is not ok. One of the critical factors i notice was in the place of time management. For the purpose of this write up, I would like to share some thoughts on time management and how it has transformed me to where i am. Many destinies shattered and many confused due to inability to figure out how to leverage on opportunities and maximize time.
If i had the singular power to reverse lots of things, the first I'll work on is time.
Time management is one of the most difficult thing I've ever seen on earth. It can be taught, preached but swing into action is one of the major challenges of many. Some talkt too much compared to how much work they input. If i were to be a minister of education of my country, one of the core subjects I'll introduce would be time management. The clear cut variance between the poor, rich and wealthy lies within the shores of how they manage their time. The greatest resources i have ever seen and that would ever be cherished is time. One of my mentors ever said if he would be allowed to tap and leverage on other people's time. In Short word, he said every one is entitled to 24hours per day. He noticed lately that even the 24hours is not enough how he wished an extra five minutes could be added to enable him achieved greater things. This is a clear statement from someone that places value on the use of time.
I decided to write perhaps it would cause a paradigm shift in someone's life who couldn't utilize time. Every successful personality seen today is a product of a good time manager. Time management involves deliberate input in order to use time to achieve unprecedented results. Time management is prerequisite in all facets of life. There are different strategies that could help one to have control over time management.
I told the teenager with me that one of my secrets of success even though I've attained where i want yet is time usage. I noticed that my boy gets distracted easily when a task is given to him to handle. An assignment for just 5-10mins could take him an hour or more hmmmm how would he be successful? Similar thing when it comes to his studies, he takes things for granted and allow excuses to overwhelm everything. He can talk and complain a lot. I sat him down one day and told him you need to manage your time. I began to share some principles that helped me when I was like him.
Have a goal for each day and clearly write it down. Get a jotter or note book so that such records would be kept there.
Deliberately don't pay attention to what is not part of your schedule. Focus on the written task and stick to it. Evaluate yourself at the end of the day to ascertain your level of achievement. Consistently do this and watch out after a week. There would be an improvement.
Time management requires self discipline.
