Lord Shiva is a very revered god in our country, in Hindi month this month which is going on in our country now, it is called the month of Sawan. Although Lord Shiva is worshipped every day in this month, but on the first Monday of Sawan, which was on 18th July, all the temples of Lord Shiva get huge crowd.
On this day there is no place to even set foot in any temple. One of these temples is called the temple of Pura Mahadev and the other is called the temple of Oghadh Nath. These temples have been very large pilgrimage sites for Hindus for several hundred years, every year in this month about 20 million people, both men and women, walk 250-300 distances to fetch water from the holy river the Ganges.
And in these temples Lord Shiva's idols are offered. These are great pilgrimage centers of the faith and belief of Hindus. The western region of our country gets absorbed in Shiva devotion every year. It is believed that if any person walks twice in his life and offers water to the idol of Lord Shiva, then all his wishes will be fulfilled. And people have also seen this happening.
At these pilgrimage sites, devotees from different places located at a distance of thousands of kilometers of the country come to fulfill their wishes and have darshan of God. This part of our country turns into a festive atmosphere in this month.
The music of Lord Shiva's devotion reverberates all around, arrangements are made by the local people to stay and free food for the devotees from place to place.
