This year, for the New Year celebration, we made a plan to go to Nantes, France. As per the plan, we reached the airport with our full luggage.

After this, sitting in the waiting room, I thought about my double plan.

After a long and boring journey, we reached the railway station 50 km before our destination. I didn't tell Perry that my purpose was to celebrate the New Year as well as study the 15th-century fort.

We boarded a slow train for our next trip to Nantes. In my imagination, a picture of the fort of Nantes was emerging from where we were to arrive.

They had bought the property at auction and were in the process of renovating it into – get this – a retreat for the contemporary artists in residence.

So this 15th-century palace was completely decorated with modern art. Imagine you stepping off a train in the middle of nowhere, dragging our belongings down a deserted dirt road with no shelter or sight.Peeping behind the trees, I spotted a tall bastion belonging to a 15th-century palace with people in it.

Our journey had begun, we were greeted with a smile by the fort staff and the kitchen staff who didn't speak English but were expert at feeding us.

We heard voices in many languages. Our hosts came from a group of fine emerging artists and art curators from around the world, with whom he had met at his art exhibition.
He wanted to prove to them that he really had a palace. In fact, they all served me and Perry a long table and a lovely homemade cake for dinner on New Year's Eve.

Think of our bedroom, where every item and piece of furniture is in black and white. A library where all the bookshelves are closed at an angle. An angel statue is watching the first buds grow in a traditional French garden. A clean water fountain in the garden.

For me and Perry, it was a lot of fun, and they lived their lives with a heavenly feeling for 3–4 days, as well as collected the old information about the fort.
