About 30 years ago I went to my grandmother's village, we went to her village together by train. She was a tall, healthy woman who sported a stylish hairstyle, wore colourful clothes and walked with confidence.
The other women in the village were younger, all the women there wore some clothing on their heads, and they were all still working in the fields and had little luxuries. Grandmom told me that the people of the village were very happy because the government had brought electricity to the residents of this village. Grandmother told me many old stories from her village.
Many immigrants yearn for their country and regret leaving. My grandmother was a good example. Her life in Canada was quite difficult when her husband died at a very young age leaving her to run a dairy farm and raise 4 children. She came from Canada in 1970, a very unfortunate year for her. As a child, I remember her stories about her "good" life in her old village.
Grandmother's eyes started watering while narrating one of her memoirs, she told me that my grandfather used to run a dairy farm. My grandparents had 4 children out of which 3 were girls and one boy is my father.
My grandmother told that in her old country, she was a very wealthy farmer and owner of a dairy farm, then some such incidents happened that everything was ruined.
Grandmother was married to my grandfather at the age of 20, at that time grandfather had many farms and animals, to raise these animals, he also kept many shepherds who used to graze the animals throughout the day. They used to take them to the farmhouse, bring them back in the evening and keep them in the farmhouse and after taking out the milk, they used to store and sell them the next day.
Among these animals were 20 cows, 15 buffaloes, and about 40 - 50 goats and sheep. After removing the hair of these sheep, their wool was also sold in the market at a good price.
I asked Grandma when there was so much, what happened that everything was ruined.
Grandmother told me that grandfather died of a heart attack at a very young age, then I was only 27 years old and your father was only 2 years old, there was no other man in the house, all the responsibilities fell on me while I had neither interest nor experience in all these things.
I said, oh, what happened then, how did you manage everything?
Grandmother said, the first few days I kept crying after remembering your grandfather, then I thought that such a life will not work, I will have to handle everything, and I started taking care of the work with the help of servants. And within a few months, I handled all the work properly. But God still had to take my exams, he put me in new troubles.
I asked in surprise what happened this time grandma.
Then hearing what Grandma told me, my entire body hair went stand, because I had not heard anything about it before.
Grandma started telling me that after your grandfather's death, one of our shepherds who used to take the animals for grazing, one day took all our sheep, goats for grazing, he did not return in the evening, later his search Then it came to know that someone had killed him and snatched all the sheep and goats and left him in the forest thinking that he was dead, but after 2-3 days he came back to his senses and came back.
I told Grandma it was a lot of damage and asked her then what happened next.
Grandmother said that some days went well, then life gave a new crisis. One of our shepherds used to drink opium which was not in our knowledge, one day he took our cow and buffalo to graze, when these animals were grazing in the plains, he ate opium and he slept when its sleep opened, he saw that all the cows were grazing but there were no buffaloes there.
He ran fast and started looking for the buffaloes, he saw that the buffaloes were taking a bath in the nearby river. It was very hot that day and buffaloes feel very hot and if they see water anywhere, they enter it.
Then he told us that out of all the buffaloes, 10 buffaloes had gone in the middle of the river and suddenly disappeared in the river and lost out of sight.

The shepherd told us that all the buffaloes had drowned at once, and a swirl was visible above the water. The shepherd returned home with the remaining 5 buffaloes and cows.
Later, the people of our village went to the river and investigated, then it came to know that a vortex is formed in the middle of that river, which meets in a natural sinkhole. After getting trapped in it, no one can survive there.
My grandmom further told that after the villagers came to know that that river is so terrible, everyone decided to empty these villages. Because many animals and women and children of that village also used to go often to take bath and swimming in the river.
After this decision, I was also very sad and I came to this place selling everything and raising my children by studying.
I did not know anything about the sinkhole, so I asked my grandmother, what is this sinkhole, grandmother?
Grandma told Dear son a sinkhole is a depression in the ground with no natural external surface drainage. Basically, this means that when it rains, all the water stays inside the sinkhole. They also get formed inside rivers.
I still remember that day my grandmother became very sad to remember the old things.
and today I am sure that many immigrants also have the same experience when they remember their old memories.
