And he told the children roaming there, whoever wants to play this cricket come here , whoever gets me out, I will give him a $1 reward. Hearing this, many children were attracted towards him. They thought the professor was joking. Then they said to the professor, "First give the prize, then we will play." The professor took out the money of his pocket and gave $4 to the children who seemed to be able to play cricket. That day, the professor went back to his home after distributing $4 among the children. And he continued this for the next few days.
Many more children were attracted by taking of dollars in prize. and started playing cricket matches there. Now slowly, Professor was moving towards his goal. professor created the intrest to play criket seriously in the children of slum. After that one day he announce a $10 reward to the children for Cleaning the play ground from all sides."And the children make that ground a good playground with a very hard work .
Slowly, the children were becoming attracted towards him. And they were getting mixed up with them. Obeying them, the children cleaned the entire ground thoroughly. By sprinkling lime around him, he made him ready to play. Gradually, Professor started honing the talents of the children. And then teach these children the tricks of batting and bowling.
the professor was about to retire from college. His companions told him that on the date of his retirement, they wanted to give him a gift. The professor said instead of giving me a gift, get the team of college children to compete with the team of his children. And two players of this team got selected for the country team. Professor worked hard, Trained them and by making their passports etc. Made them ready to play abroad. With these little efforts of Professor. Many young people from a slum escaped bad habits from bad company and their futures improved.
His college, co professors and all students of the college are very proud that a professor of their college made meaningful efforts to improve the future of these slum children.
