Libelloides coccajus (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1758)
Der Libellen-Schmetterlingshaft ist ein Netzflügler (Neuroptera) aus der Familie der Schmetterlingshafte. Das Insekt ist mit seiner leuchtend gelben Flügelzeichnung und den durchsichtigen Flügeln markant geprägt. Die kolbenförmigen Fühler erinnern an einen Tagfalter während sein Schwirrflug dem einer Libelle ähnlich ist. Mit einer Flügelspannweite von fast 60 mm ist der Haft gut zu erkennen wenn er seine Flügel ausbreitet oder in der Luft auf Beutefang umherfliegt.
The owly sulphur is a Neuroptera from the family of Ascalaphidae. The insect is strikingly characterized by its bright yellow wing pattern and transparent wings. The bulb-shaped antennae remind of a butterfly, while its buzzing flight is similar to that of a dragonfly. With a wing span of almost 60 mm, the stick is easy to spot when it spreads its wings or flies around in the air to catch prey.

Ohne Sonne fliegt der Haft nicht, er ruht an einem Halm in Bodennähe und wartet auf die wärmende Sonne. Sobald die Sonne wieder scheint, breitet er seine Flügel aus und begibt sich auf die Jagd. Dabei werden kleinere Insekten in der Luft erbeutet. Auch Schmetterlinge stehen auf dem Speiseplan von diesem Räuber.
Without sun the insect does not fly, it rests on a culm near the ground and waits for the warming sun. As soon as the sun shines again, it spreads its wings and goes hunting. Smaller insects are captured in the air. Butterflies are also on the menu of this predator.

Das Weibchen legt mehrer Eier an einen Halm in Bodennähe ab. Nach ca. einem Monat schlüpft das Imago und lebt räuberisch am Boden. Die Entwicklung als Larve dauert zwei Jahre. Die Larve verpuppt sich an Pflanzen in einem Kokon.
The female lays several eggs on a culm near the ground. After about one month the imago hatches and lives predatory on the ground. The development as a larva takes two years. The larva pupates on plants in a cocoon.

Ab Mai schlüpft der Libellen-Schmetterlingshaft und lebt ca. vier Wochen. Das Männchen kann vom Weibchen durch eine Zange am Hinterleib leicht unterschieden werden. In den zurückliegenden Jahren konnte sich dieses Insekt in Unterfranken ausbreiten. Somit zählt es zu den Klimagewinnern.
From May the owly sulphur hatches and lives for about four weeks. The male can be easily distinguished from the female by a pair of pliers on the abdomen. In the past years this insect could spread in Lower Franconia. Therefore it counts to the climate winners.
