Birthday celebration of the Prophet Muhammad SAW (Maulid), one of the great traditions in Aceh, Indonesia

Aceh Province is one of the areas whose citizens are thick with Islamic traditions. In religious rituals, Bumi Veranda of Mecca has a unique tradition of welcoming the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.

In Aceh, the commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad is known as "maulod". During the implementation, residents held a big feast by inviting orphans and their relatives.

The Maulid event can be said to be one of the biggest celebrations in Aceh Province.

During that time, all villages (gampong) in Aceh held Kenduri Maulid. Maulid celebrations are carried out as a form of joy and respect for the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Usually, the Maulid Kenduri is held all day long, starting from preparing the Beulangong Kuah cuisine in the morning, reciting poetry and remembrance during the day, eating together in the afternoon, and listening to religious lectures in the evening.

During Maulid, Kuah (Beulangong) is cooked on a large scale because it will be tasted by many people. The meat curry is also processed directly in the courtyard of the mosque where the Maulid took place. If there are many invitations for the Maulid celebration, the cooked Beulangong sauce can reach twenty large pots.
