Sab铆as que uno de los actores con la carrera m谩s extraordinaria es Ryan Gosling (en mi opini贸n) ya que ha participado en diferentes papeles y producciones tan mezcladas, que su actuaci贸n es tan sobresaliente por la incre铆ble forma en la que se adapta a cada una de ellas, las m谩s destacadas para m铆 son: El Diario de Noa, El Hombre Gris, Barbie, Loco y Est煤pido Enamorado y La La Land. Pero entre estas hay una que despu茅s de verla inmediatamente la agregu茅 a mi lista de Ryan, ya que no solo es una gran obra maestra del cine, sino que vi cierta conexi贸n con una pr贸xima pel铆cula de Ryan Gosling que est谩 por estrenarse. Y estoy hablando de Drive, de 2011. As铆 que como de costumbre, vamos a hablar de la trama y luego algunos aspectos destacados de esta pel铆cula.
Did you know that one of the actors with the most extraordinary career is Ryan Gosling (in my opinion) since he has participated in different roles and productions so mixed, that his acting is so outstanding for the incredible way in which he adapts to each of them, the most outstanding for me are: The Notebook, The Grey Man, Barbie, Crazy and Stupid in Love and La La Land. But among these is one that after I saw it I immediately added it to my Ryan's list, since it is not only a great masterpiece of cinema, but I saw some connection with an upcoming Ryan Gosling movie that is about to be released. And I'm talking about 2011's Drive. So as usual, let's talk about the plot and then some highlights of this movie.
Drive nos cuenta la historia de un hombre sin nombre apodado "El Conductor", un misterioso individuo que vive una doble vida. De d铆a, trabaja como mec谩nico en un taller y como doble de escenas de riesgo en pel铆culas de Hollywood, donde su talento al volante lo convierte en una pieza indispensable. De noche, se transforma en un conductor de fuga para atracos y robos, utilizando sus habilidades para escapar de la polic铆a y burlar a los criminales.
Pero la normalidad se ve inerrumpida cuando El Conductor conoce a Irene, una joven madre que vive en el mismo edificio que 茅l. Irene est谩 casada con Standard, un hombre que acaba de salir de prisi贸n y que se ve envuelto en problemas con mafiosos locales. El Conductor se siente atra铆do por Irene y su hijo Benicio, y comienza a desarrollar un fuerte v铆nculo con ellos, brind谩ndoles protecci贸n y apoyo. Y todo se vuelve aun peor cuando debe participar en un robo que sale mal, se encuentra en una encrucijada: debe elegir entre proteger su propia vida o salvar a Irene y Benicio de las garras de los criminales.
Drive tells the story of a nameless man nicknamed "The Driver," a mysterious individual who lives a double life. By day, he works as a mechanic in a garage and as a stuntman in Hollywood movies, where his talent behind the wheel makes him indispensable. By night, he becomes a getaway driver for heists and robberies, using his skills to escape the police and outwit criminals.
But normalcy is interrupted when The Driver meets Irene, a young mother who lives in the same building as him. Irene is married to Standard, a man who has just been released from prison and is involved in trouble with local mobsters. The Driver is attracted to Irene and her son Benicio, and begins to develop a strong bond with them, providing protection and support. And everything becomes even worse when he has to participate in a robbery that goes wrong, he finds himself at a crossroads: he must choose between protecting his own life or saving Irene and Benicio from the clutches of criminals.
Esta es sin duda una de las mejores pel铆culas de Ryan Gosling, ya que est谩 llena de suspense, acci贸n y romance, con una est茅tica visual 煤nica que combina elementos del cine de g茅nero cl谩sico con un toque moderno y minimalista. Tambi茅n cuenta con una banda sonora, compuesta por Cliff Mart铆nez, que adem谩s de ser ic贸nica en cada escena, esta banda sonora juega un papel fundamental en la creaci贸n de la atm贸sfera melanc贸lica y tensa que caracteriza a la pel铆cula.
Otro aspecto que la pel铆cula destaca muy bien son las escenas de acci贸n memorables, por ejemplo la que m谩s puedo destacar es cuando el conductor est谩 con Irene en un ascensor y entra un criminal, y el conductor lo mata a patadas, muy brutal pero ic贸nico. Las persecuciones en coche son trepidantes y est谩n filmadas con maestr铆a, combinando planos generales con detalles que intensifican la adrenalina.
This is undoubtedly one of Ryan Gosling's best films, as it is full of suspense, action and romance, with a unique visual aesthetic that combines elements of classic genre films with a modern and minimalist touch. It also has a soundtrack, composed by Cliff Martinez, which besides being iconic in every scene, this soundtrack plays a fundamental role in creating the melancholic and tense atmosphere that characterizes the film.
Another aspect that the movie highlights very well are the memorable action scenes, for example the one I can highlight the most is when the driver is with Irene in an elevator and a criminal enters, and the driver kicks him to death, very brutal but iconic. The car chases are fast-paced and masterfully filmed, combining general shots with details that intensify the adrenaline.
Tambien puedo destacar en como Drive hace Homenaje al cine cl谩sico, tomando referencias y similitudes con otros clasicos del cine de accion, tales como "Bullitt" (1968) por las escenas de persecuci贸n, "A bout de souffle" (1960) por la est茅tica y "The Driver" (1978) por la tem谩tica. Ademas La est茅tica de Drive est谩 fuertemente influenciada por el cine negro de los a帽os 40 y 50. La pel铆cula presenta una paleta de colores apagada, con predominio de rojos, azules y negros, que crea una atm贸sfera oscura y melanc贸lica. La iluminaci贸n tambi茅n juega un papel importante, utilizando claroscuros para crear una sensaci贸n de misterio y tensi贸n.
Y una ultima cosa que convierte a Drive en una pelicula iconica, es que aplica fielmente de que lo mucho no significa exito, ya que el guion de Ryan Gosling en esta pelicula no va mas alla de las 900 palabras en toda la pelicula, ya que mayormente podemos ver son planos del actor y debido a que es una persona solitaria, va muy acorde con el guion, lo cual es fascinante, ya que para conquistar a la audiencia no e necesaria tanto dialogo.
I can also highlight how Drive pays homage to classic cinema, taking references and similarities with other classic action movies, such as "Bullitt" (1968) for the chase scenes, "A bout de souffle" (1960) for the aesthetics and "The Driver" (1978) for the theme. Drive's aesthetics are strongly influenced by the film noir of the 40s and 50s. The film features a muted color palette, with a predominance of reds, blues and blacks, which creates a dark and melancholic atmosphere. Lighting also plays an important role, using chiaroscuro to create a sense of mystery and tension.
And one last thing that makes Drive an iconic film, is that it applies faithfully that much does not mean success, as the script of Ryan Gosling in this film does not go beyond 900 words in the whole film, as we can mostly see are shots of the actor and because he is a lonely person, it goes very much in line with the script, which is fascinating, since to conquer the audience is not necessary so much dialogue.
