In the unlikely scenario that you weren't already aware, oracle-d@oracle-d and theycallmedan@theycallmedan have partnered up to create a brand new video content website exclusively powered by the STEEM blockchain called 3Speak. The USP behind it? To empower content creators who have, for one reason or another, been ousted from another social media platform. And what a relevant niche in the market 3Speak look to capitalize on! Giving back a voice to the people who had it snatched away by some invisible authoritarian governing figurehead. Because this particular subject seems to be gaining more and more notoriety within some of the world's biggest online public domains, as far as freedom of speech is concerned. Namely, YouTube, followed closely by Twitter.

The above is best illustrated by the recent events of the Steven Crowder incident. Crowder is an American social commentator and politicist, who's outspoken views regarding various social topics have divided audiences around the world. However, he was considered popular enough to garner almost 4 million subscribers to his channel. Now enter Carlos Maza who is a writer, host and producer on general interest website, Vox. They both managed to get into a spat resulting in Crowder "mockingly" hurling mediocre insults back at him, pertaining to Carlos's sexual bias.

Whereas some are saying that this could be construed as heated banter between two opposing parties, YouTube took the more hands-on approach of demonetizing his entire channel. They indicated Crowder's words are perceived, under their specific guidelines, as "hate speech". Now, my opinion on who was right or wrong, is of no real consequence here. But the bigger picture is where the real worry lies. Who is to decide what is considered "actual" hate speech or not. Mostly, this is a grey area where you will have two distinct interpretations of the same story, but if these powerful companies start dictating the rules under which censorship should fall under, we are treading a very dangerous path indeed.

3Speak looks to address this issue, as the above mentioned case is literally one of many. Because believe me when I say this "will" drive content creators to look elsewhere in the digital space. Especially where the overall free-speech culture and potential remuneration offered for their content, are viewed as equally desirable. oracle-d@oracle-d and theycallmedan@theycallmedan certainly have the pulling power to incentivize de-platformed individuals to "give us a go", if you like. Already we have seen a couple of prominent well-known figures (such as James Goddard) posting on there, without fear of a tyrannical backlash or mob-rule mentality. Generally people understand the differences between right and wrong, know what is just idle banter instead of inciting violent rhetoric. Here on 3speak, the community as a collective, have the final say as to what content is deemed permissible or actionable against.

These new initiatives being born through the power of crypto currency, are nothing short of extraordinary. The Steem blockchain appears to now be at the forefront of these powerful culturally-shifting movements and oracle-d@oracle-d together with the invaluable assistance of theycallmedan@theycallmedan, are doing one heck of a job. I'm loving what 3Speak are striving to achieve and the compelling values they stands for. The way I see it, things can only go from strength to strength from here on out.
