I use to think anything medieval is ancient and it has nothing to do with modern times, but I have come to see things in a different light. Take the example of a medieval town, it was established a long time ago with some features such as a densed population with high walls. We still have such today.
We have cities with densely population, having ancient walls so high preserving the culture of the people for generations. I really think this is the beauty of the town, the fact that you have building and other features that speaks way back to when the town was born, it is remarkable. Medieval Town is now recent.
