Archons Ability and Adapating to Modifiers

Greetings to all my fellow players around the world and to Splinterlands. How are you all doing Splinters? Hope you are all doing great. For todays Splinterlands Social Media Challenge I will be talking about my epic battle amd winning it by using the Archons Ability.

With all the card sets release by Splinterlands, there are lots of strong archons but most of them are move to wild. I recently had a matched using Elias Max Pruitt in brawl, that I felt deserves to be shared.

Lets dive in to my battle. This one is from brawl. Its a modern fray at bronze level.

The first combat rule is weak magic. Magic damage will hit the Armor first before it hits the HP.
The second is the divine shield, all unit will just ignore the first hit.
The third of the rule is deflection field all units have deflect ability. Its the immunity from blast damage, corrosive ward, magic reflect, return fire and thorn.

Analysing the situation, the best strategy is to choose a unit that has an armor or I can provide it by using ability of unit or archon, to have a first layer of defense against magic attack. The divine shield doesn't give me advantage or disadvantage here at all so I will just ignore it. Then comes the third rule, the deflection field, I knew already what I'm going to use. Elias Max Pruitt will be the best archon since if porvide 1 armor plus 1 additional melee damage.
This weak magic and deflection combat ruleset is hard to penetrate that is why I will be choosing Elias Max Pruitts tactics ability of Armoured Strike and Piercing.

ARMORED STRIKE - If armored, gains a physical attack that deals damage equal to the remaining armor.

PIERCING - Damage in excess or the target's armor is apply to health.

Those two tactics ability by Elias Max Pruitt will be the key to my victory. Now here is our teams line up.

My enemy's line up has only two units with armor. This is brawl so 1 gladiator can be summon in the battle. He used common archon with no tactics ability.
My team with Elias Max Pruitt will have 1 additional already plus I added Nimbledook Explorer to boost my defense with its protect ability(+2 armor to all allied unit).
My main unit in this battle was Isgald Vorst.

Take a look at Isgald Vorst after it was applied with tactics ability and additional armor and physical damage. This card is the perfect fit for this kind of combat rule of weak magic and deflection field. The key on using armored strike and piercing is finding a unit that has an opportunity or sneak ability. Since we are preserving his armor it should be well position not to take away its armor since it is the source of damage. If I put this tactic ability to commander slade the armor will be easily broken, it is not as efficient with Isgald Vorst. The ideal is to position the unit 2nd or 3rd to last card just to be safe from sneak attack, and another to look out for is the opportunity from the enemy, so by putting another card with lower health than Isgald Vorst will make him safe from both sneak and opportunity attacker. That is the main role of Moxian Rebel to attract the attack of my enemy with opportunity ability if ever.

Isgald Vorst by the way is a gladiator card, with bloodlust ability combined with armored strike and piercing, he is unstoppable.

I learned this type of gameplay when I encountered this line up in modern format with the combat rule of "are you not entertained?". I was surprised by my enemy, I was anihilated instantly. I tried to adapt it and have mastered it with continous battle. This strategy is not suitable to every battle, it still depends on the combat ruleset that the game will provide. I encourage new players to study the different Ability and Splinterlands Modifiers. This will help you progress in Splinterlands battlefield.
