Le Polaroïd aujourd’hui ou devrais-je dire l’instantané, puisqu’officiellement Polaroid ne produit plus de film instantané depuis 2008.
Il y a actuellement 2 solutions pérennes en ce moment pour pratiquer l’instantané. Aujourd’hui nous allons parler de la première solution. Quand je dis pérenne, cela veut dire que les appareils et les films sont produits et vendus à ce jour. Et visiblement ça n’est pas près de s’arrêter.
Cette solution c’est Fuji qui l’a mis en place et il y a quelques années puisqu’il s’agit de 1998 avec la sortie de l’instax Mini. En 1999 c’est la sortie de l’instax Wide. Ca n’est qu’en 2017 que la gamme des appareils et film va s’agrandir avec l'instax Square qui a évidemment un format carré.

The Polaroid today or should I say the instant photography, since officially Polaroid no longer produces instant film since 2008.
There are currently 2 sustainable solutions at the moment to practice the instant photography. Today we are going to talk about the first solution. When I say perennial, it means that devices and films are produced and sold to date. And obviously it's not about to stop.
This solution is Fuji who set it up and a few years ago since it is 1998 with the release of the instax Mini. In 1999 is the release of the instax Wide. It is only in 2017 that the range of devices and film will be expanded with the instax Square which obviously has a square format.

Ce qui est amusant c’est que pendant 10 ans l’instax existera en parallèle de Polaroid mais sans vraiment faire d’ombre au géant. Ca n’est qu’à part de l’arrêt définitif de Polaroid de sa production que Fuji va connaître le succès.
Allez dans n’importe quel magasin photo ou grande surface avec un rayon photo et vous verrez l’instax Mini et ses multiples coloris. Le Mini a un format de film qui s’approche du format carte de visite. Les films coutent donc moins cher et c’est un ensemble appareil + film qui a un énorme succès auprès du grand public. C’est sans doute le modèle qu’on voit le plus en fiesta ou événement heureux comme les mariages.

Le format Wide est devenu très intéressant pour les photographes pratiquant la photo instantanée. Les films ont certes un coût non négligeable mais on peut les trouver n’importe où. Ils ont un comportement qui ne varie pas dans le temps puisqu’il s’agit de films qui ne sont pas expirés. Contrairement aux films de Polaroid que l’on peut encore trouver (à prix exorbitant) sur les sites d’occasion.
Pour un photographe travaillant sur des sujets créatifs, voire contemporain l’instax Wide est un équivalent du Polaroid qui permet de continuer à faire de l’instantané aujourd’hui.

L’instax Square qui vient tout juste de sortir en 2017 est un mixte entre l’argentique et le numérique. L’appareil permet les 2 modes. Soit vous êtes en mode numérique et vous sauvegardez vos images sur une carte mémoire. Soit vous pouvez l’utiliser en mode film en imprimant votre image directement sur le film. Film qui a une forme particulière qui se rapproche d’ailleurs du format carré de l’intégral Polaroid.
De mon côté j’ai bien évidemment un instax Mini et un Wide. Je trouve d’ailleurs que le Wide est un très bon compromis.
Seul défaut de Fuji, mais c’est mon ressenti personnel, le rendu Fuji est toujours trop ressemblant à la réalité. Les films Polaroid étaient suffisamment riches en type différent pour en trouver un avec le rendu artistique qui vous intéressait. Fuji a toujours visé le rendu réaliste ;) Avec un très grand succès.

The instax Square that just released in 2017 is a mix between film and digital. The device allows both modes. Either you are in digital mode and you save your images on a memory card. Either you can use it in film mode by printing your image directly on the movie. Film that has a particular shape that is closer to the square format of the Polaroid integral.
On my side I obviously have an instax Mini and a Wide. I also find that the Wide is a very good compromise.
Fuji's only flaw, but that's my personal feeling, the Fuji rendering is still too much like reality. Polaroid films were rich enough in different types to find one with the artistic rendering that interested you. Fuji has always aimed at realistic rendering;) With great success.
