Hello, @rei. It would probably help you to read a person's comment more carefully before responding. I advocate self-government under the over-arching principles of God's word, so I am not sure why you

It doesn't change the fact that taxation is theft. It's good that your needs were met, but that doesn't justify the means by which they were met. Help is honorable when it's provided voluntarily.

Anyway, both programs need to be abolished along with that which funds them. Taxation is theft and government isn't a worthy savior. :-)

Thanks! We're trying to think of a good, unique name for her. I can't seem to come up with much. :-/

@immarojas, good point. I think I've heard it used a couple of times, though...or maybe I was dreaming. Anyway, I should probably do a separate post on Filipino English. For example, my asawa always tells

Of course! Ang sarap. :-)

Thanks. Interestingly, "Filipino" (Tagalog) is a second language to many people in the Philippines. Down in Cebu, for example, people speak Cebuano in everyday life. Up north, people speak

The argument itself necessarily presupposes a Christian worldview. Please refer to the late Greg Bahnsen.

Hey. We talked already, but I'm commenting for other readers, and I'm adding a couple of things to what I said earlier. (1) Republic Act 8485 (mentioned above) prohibits dog killing in the Philippines,

Over here, you can be shot or jailed for a long time for smoking some weed, but this? Pffff...People get away with this sort of thing all the time.

Thanks! It'll be up soon. I originally had it published in a short e-book format on Kindle, but I unpublished the e-book and gave @awesomenyl a thumbs up for posting it on here. (Good thinking, Babe.)

Thanks for the upvote, Marly. I'm @awesomenyl's hubby--the writer of this piece. My grandfather was born in the Canary Islands and he went to Cuba from there. Regards! :-)

As mentioned before, plenty of people rape, murder, and steal while drunk on alcohol (without being on other drugs). We hold those people accountable for their crimes of aggression, but we don't criminalize

Supposedly, he's considering the legalization of cannabis for medical reasons, but I don't think that's good enough. Actually, the concept of legalization misses the point altogether. Why should anyone

Have you had sake? I think it kind of tastes like sake, except that it's not hot (sake can be hot/warm). It has a distinct flavor, but it reminds me of sake more than anything else.

I never knew about it until I came to the Philippines. My wife's mom likes it, so I usually tell her, "Nanay, inom tayo." Haha. We don't drink a lot, though. BTW, a liter is only about P40 around

It tastes a little bit like sake, but it's made from coconut. Yes, it's strong. It's good to have just a bit, with lots of water afterward.

I'll contend that many users of illegal substances are not criminals according to a fair definition of the word "criminal." We've talked about the differences between certain drug addicts in

I take comfort in the fact that many Filipinos I know denounce Duterte - for example, my buddies over at Filipino Libertarians (FB). They aren't the only ones. :-)

This is from a few houses down, but there's better stuff out on the highway. :-D
