The pompom tree (as I call it) is a messy one! There is a few of them growing on our street. I love them! and I don't mind them being messy at all.
They grow huge, have nice big leaves that change the colour in the fall and produce those little balls. They are lovely green in summer with little thorns, a bit like a round cactus or chestnut.
And then when the winter comes all that starts falling, the little fruits turn brown and look like mysterious openwork decoration.
The ground is covered in them and I am pretty sure the seeds will feed little buggers, birds and other creatures until spring.
Anybody knows what this tree is called?
This is how they look when they still hang on the three before the new leaves and new fruits emerge in spring.
