A few years ago, I said that I had studied almost the entire city – the regional capital – which is seven times larger in area than the city where I used to live. At that time I asked if it was possible to explore the whole world, if human memory would be enough to know every corner of the globe.
Now I think it's possible. After studying the big city, I understood how memory works. It turns out that when studying it, once is enough and the place is recorded somewhere in the subconscious, so that then you do not have to strain your brain to remember the location of the streets.
And if you walk through the places you have already studied on foot, and then drive by car (that is, look at the city from different angles of perception), then knowledge of all places will manifest itself automatically. I always give an example of driving a car: at first, any little thing steals your attention – which gear is on, which signs are on the road, many even turn down the music to park.
And then, when all the skills are worked out to automatism, you just drive and think about your own, only occasionally glancing at the rest of the time at the traffic light or in the rearview mirror when changing lanes. But even this does not make the brain strain.
This is how everything works in our minds! Photographing? At first, you will also think about how to build a frame, what settings to set ... and then you are just looking for a plot you like, and the rest does not bother at all.
And with the knowledge of a large number of places, everything is exactly the same. They are not erased over time, they are simply recorded on a subconscious hard drive and only when we find ourselves in any place, our eyes send a signal to RAM, and already it gets us the necessary fragment from our server.
And if suddenly the picture does not converge (for example, the place has changed a lot), then the image is overwritten or a copy of the new one is created, preserving the old one.
If everything coincides with the image recorded in memory, then most often the sensations of the place that we experienced on our first visit go with it in the package.
If the sensations are different now, then they are also recorded and saved to the folder where the information about the place is stored.
And so you can remember as much as you want-write down places and sensations from them in your memory. Our server, according to my feelings, is close to infinity.
But we also have defragmentation, sector replacement, and file merging. Over the years, the memory seems to be compressed and the recorded fragments lose.
If there are weak sensations with the memory file or there are none at all, then the memory file seems to lose its relevance and is archived.
We do not erase anything (in normal condition) and, if desired, you can get everything, only few people know how to use it.
And in order for fewer files to leak into the archive, you need to constantly download this memory, work with it, access it.
Not only to experience and learn something new, but also to remember the old more often.
Keeping a diary is best suited for this...or it's still a photo for me.
Photography is a live online server with memories, where only one image contains a whole package of other images, stories and feelings from them.
Awareness is exactly what continuous, clear and competent work with information is.
