Black and white photography is not a genre, but a separate world of photography. In grayscale, you can capture any plot in any genre. There are photographers which shoot landscapes in black and white, there are portrait photographers, and there are even reportage ones. I also love black and white photography, but only in high contrast or in a low key.
I noticed that I began to pay less attention to black and white pictures, so I began to pay more attention to black and white pictures. But only in the documentary or reporting spirit. Because of the pandemic, I have to spend most of the time at home, although there is a pass for creative walks. Therefore, I am reviewing the archive.
Now I take photographs in vertical orientation so rarely that almost never. Vertical frames are actually very difficult to build and rarely applicable.
The black and white world is interesting. The lack of color makes it more likely to resort to the search for silhouettes.
When working with color channels during post-processing, individual colors can be darkened or highlighted. The same algorithms are in film photography when working with filters.
I need to not forget about this type of photograph and try to contact him more often. Indeed, even in the process of shooting, the brain begins to perceive stories differently, and the eye sees differently, if it is known that the frames will be translated into bw.
I have a series of photos where I immediately shot in black and white, setting a certain mode in the camera. It was an interesting experience, but it’s better not to.
Perhaps I will share such pictures and explain the subtleties of such photography.
